Toroidal Power Transformers

Toroidal power transformers are doughnut/ring-shaped transformers used in power supply circuits and switch mode power supplies.Toroidal transformers get their name from their shape, as torus means a round/circular shape in geometry.This shape comes from the transformer windings being wound on a toroidally (ring) shaped core rather than a straight bar shape.The core itself is usually made from ferrite or iron powder held together by an adhesive to form a hollow ring shape, and the windings are wound over the ring core directly.
