Excellently ergonomic – Wiha tools recommended by doctors and therapists

The Wiha screwdriver handle size concept

The handle size concept at Wiha is a completely newly developed handle design which has emerged based on various investigations and the results of research in the fields of anthropometrics and ergonomics, and practical applications.

The focus is on the “constant hand size”. The four different SoftFinish® handle sizes mean that each handle offers the ideal balance of guidance, speed and torque for the respective fastening task. The handle size concept means that the user can both quickly screw in screws and transmit high levels of force. The ideal length of the screwdrivers for guidance remains almost constant despite varying functions.

Overview of handle ergonomics

  • 1

Safe and irremovable handle – blade connection

  • 2

Twist zone: Thumb rest for anti-slip protection and for the application of axial force, smooth surface and narrow diameter for quick turning

  • 3

Handle dimensions and sizes tailored-made for the human hand

  • 4

Soft handle surface in the gripping zone, with torque-increasing effect, for ideal coupling conditions and good feedback with all handle types, adapted to the ambient conditions

  • 5

Impact-resistant handle core, made from high-strength plastic for reliable power transmission

  • 6

The spherical shape is comfortable in the hand and provides all the fingers with a maximum contact area for energy-saving, low-fatigue working

  • 7

Handle cross section with 8 chamfers for ideal handling

  • 8

Spherical flattened butt end for reliable centring in the palm of the hand for applying high torque levels
