Power over Ethernet (PoE)

Power over Ethernet (PoE) technology allows electrical power to be carried over twisted-pair Ethernet cabling. This means that devices that require power, such as desk phones and wireless access points, can be powered through the same cable that carries their data. When choosing a PoE solution for your network, it's important to make sure that all of your devices are compatible with the type of Power over Ethernet (PoE) that you're using. In addition, you'll need to factor in how much power each device needs when determining how many ports you'll need on your switch or injector.
